One year on

A year ago today, I landed at Bundeena Beach, after having swum the length of the Sydney coastline, taking 19 hours and 4 minutes to swim south from Palm Beach.

I had hoped to have written something about the swim by now but there are just fragments jotted down before I forget them completely. I planned to pull them together in time for this one year mark but other life has intervened. I will draft it into some shape one day soon, though, if only to honour the dedication of my team and broadcast the wonderful work of James and Bev, who captured the event in pictures.

I don't often wear my 'Swim Sydney' t-shirt; it feels a bit too arrogant to walk around in something with my name on it. 

But a few weeks ago I needed some positive vibes around me due to a health issue and wore the t-shirt to an appointment. The consultant saw the back of it and started asking questions. When I described my support crew, her reaction was, "Wow, you have incredible friends." I choked up. Yes, I do.
